Yes, ET's can read your mind and know things about you (which is basically what communication will evolve to) but just because an ET can do that and you can't doesn't mean that an ET can't be as "bad" as you. (Horrible word to describe an entity btw, "bad".)
The way I see it is that the ET's aren't here to save a certain percentage of the population but to warn our race of the upcomming events. We're coming up to the peak of human evolution. There will be some catastrophes but our race will survive and evolve. The more that are aware of what's going on the more that can survive.
(I'm not saying that I agree with this planet X though, I simply have not looked into any real scientific data. Keep in mind we've had plenty of asteroid and doomsday hoaxes in the past. But some major events will happen and time will change.)
